Peter Hammond
Peter lives with his partner Nirbeeja on their western Kangaroo Island property, which is dedicated to conservation.
Since moving to KI in 2012, Peter has been active in protecting the KI environment, notably through his volunteering work with Friends of Parks KI Western Districts, casual work in Flinders Chase National Park, and in the post fire period with his ongoing work on the pygmy possum and bat nest box project, Tasmanian Blue Gum seedling control, and cat and phytophthora control with KI Land for Wildlife. Peter is also a community representative on the KI Dunnart and Glossy Black Cockatoo Recovery Programs.
Peter and Nirbeeja are rebuilding their home on their property after the fire and are taking great heart from seeing the surrounding bushland recover.
