Deb Laver
Deborah and her now husband Alex moved to Kangaroo Island in 2009 after 14 months volunteering in Laos in South East Asia. Deborah having worked with the then Department for Environment and Natural Resources for three years prior, took up post as a Park Ranger at the Flinders Chase National Park. A position she held until she retired from the Department in 2018. Deborah is now kept busy with a young family though remains heavily involved in a range of conservation initiatives on the Island both as a volunteer with groups including the Friends of Parks Kangaroo Island Western Districts and with a number of non-Government environmental organisations.
Deborah has tertiary qualifications both in environmental, conservation and park management and in education and currently works as a teacher with Kangaroo Island Community Education.
Deborah is passionate about engaging youth with their local environment and connecting the community through caring for their natural environment.
